Some modifications I added:
- rearranged parts to use the material more densely
- fuse bottom section coverings for sleeker assembly
- move some labels away for nicer end look
Cutting Process #
There are lines to only scar on the wood for aesthetic purposes, they are in blue in my design: these lines should not be cut trhough the full depth.
The lasercutter also had issues making the text labels in blue, so I set those in black as polygons, for normal engraving.
Second version #
Another enterprise, with labels on the bottom part coverings removed.

Assembly #
Start with the two core parts that support the saucer disks, then carefully put the saucer disks from the topside and downside on. Only when you’re sure, glue them in place. Don’t forget to use the C and D little nubs for stabilising the biggest disks of the saucer section.
Then, the bottom part can be assemled: slide on the part with labels “AB123456” and first glue all “star”-shaped numbered quarter-circles (labels 1,2,3,4,5,6). Number 6 only makes a half circle, the others make a full circle.
The nacelles can then be glued together with all coverings. These go between the 4 and 5 circular sections.
After that, the coverings numbered “12345” can be glued on.
